Remote Rustic Relaxing Retreat
Forest Life in the Creuse, Nouvelle Aquitane (ex-Limousin) region of central France, offers an opportunity to become immersed in the peaceful tranquility of the forest and to become acquainted with its wildlife inhabitants.
Situated at a renovated old water mill called the Moulin Bleu (Blue Mill) along a stretch of the River Gourbillon, Forest Life itself encompasses 5 acres of the Forest de Clairavaux within the Regional Millevaches Nature Reserve with plenty of access to other areas within the Nature Reserve such as the famous Lac de Vassivierre and mountainous, volcanic peaks of the Chaîne des Puys and Puy de Sansy.
With it’s own woodland, meadows and 300m of riverside there is plenty of opportunity to learn about nature, wildlife, tracking and wilderness living & bushcraft. You can get back to nature, learn and practice woodland crafts and wilderness living skills in our outdoor classroom by the river. Alternatively you can use the area as a relaxing retreat with massage therapy and spa options amongst others.
Accommodation-wise you can wild-camp in the wildwood or camp in one of our small two-person tents (supplied) by the riverside or in the meadow. Alternatively you could chill out on the peaceful plateau in our supplied luxury bell-tent. If you want to bring your own kit and camp where you want – that’s fine too.
Its remoteness has meant that much of the modern world has passed it by; however the area is serviced by three airports; Limoges, Brive la Guillarde or Claremont-Ferrand all approx. 1 hour 40 minutes away.
Together with Riverlife Retreats we are offering Forest Life courses in bushcraft, tracking and natural history. As a retreat we are offering an amazing wilderness-based relaxing retreat in the summer months. Please visit our Courses and Retreat page.
