Remote Rustic Relaxing Retreat

Forest Life in the Creuse, Nouvelle Aquitane (ex-Limousin) region of central France, offers an opportunity to become immersed in the peaceful tranquility of the forest and to become acquainted with its wildlife inhabitants.

We offer Tracking & Bushcraft courses and also week-long Retreats which include yoga, spa and massage.

Situated at a renovated old water mill called the Moulin Bleu (Blue Mill) along a stretch of the River Gourbillon, Forest Life itself encompasses 5 acres of the Forest de Clairavaux within the Regional Millevaches Nature Reserve with plenty of access to other areas within the Nature Reserve such as the famous Lac de Vassivierre and mountainous, volcanic peaks of the Chaîne des Puys and Puy de Sansy.

With it’s own woodland, meadows and 300m of riverside there is plenty of opportunity to learn about nature, wildlife, tracking and wilderness living & bushcraft.

Rewild yourself.

With Forest Life you can get back to nature with our Bushcraft and Tracking course where you can learn and practice woodland crafts and wilderness living skills in our outdoor classroom by the river

Relax yourself.

Alternatively, or together, with Riverlife Massage you can use the area as a relaxing retreat with yoga & massage therapy lead by our qualified therapist and yoga teacher. The week includes spa options amongst other add-on activities.

Forest Life courses and RiverLife Retreats normally run in conjunction with each other so you can have the benefit of both.

Accommodation-wise you can wild-camp in the wildwood or camp in one of our small two-person tents (supplied) by the riverside or in the meadow. Alternatively you could chill out on the peaceful plateau in our luxury bell-tent or family tent. If you want to bring your own kit and camp where you want – that’s fine too.

Forest Life’s remoteness has meant that much of the modern world has passed it by; however the area is serviced by three airports; Limoges, Brive la Guillarde or Claremont-Ferrand all approx. 1 hour 40 minutes away.

The nearest town is Felletin (10 mins by car) and the historically important larger town of Aubusson (famous for it’s medieval tapestries) is 20 mins away (links wikipedia.)
